Thank You Psi Iota Xi

On April 21 and 22, 2025, Pi Chapter, Psi Iota Xi, sponsored the third annual Les Arts de la Table, held at Pine Valley Country Club. Twenty-one local businesses sponsored fabulous, fanciful tablescapes fashioned by area designers. Creations showcased everything from apple-laden picnics and circus animals to Zen garden scenes. Votes cast during Monday evening's reception and Tuesday's luncheon earned the prized People's Choice Award for Ethan Allen's engaging, inviting "The Posh Pit" campfire scene, with Cindy Friend Design's entertaining and detailed rock 'n roll extravaganza coming in a close second.

Before Tuesday's luncheon, featured speakers Jan and Mark Lawrance and Mike Nutter moved the audience with their personal experiences with family members' mental health challenges and crises. The Lawrances' twin sons suffered from depression and substance abuse, which resulted in their suicides (Will in 2011, Joe in 2017). The Lawrances continue to honor their sons' lives and artistic work through their dedication to the arts and community. Mike Nutter, president of Fort Wayne TinCaps, detailed his family's trials coping with a daughter's eating disorder, as well as his efforts to encourage positive mental health for all TinCaps team members and associates. His work in the latter area has earned him multiple national recognitions from his Major League Baseball peers.  As well, The Carriage House's own Andy Wilson explained progress on the housing initiative and expressed his gratitude for audience members' and Pi Chapter's ongoing support.

As a result of generous event sponsorships from BND and OMSA Diepenbrock Facial, a very successful silent auction, a raffle, and other donations, Pi Chapter's Les Arts de la Table event committee members were able to present a check for $36,000 to Andy Wilson and The Carriage House board on May 5. Planning is already underway for next year's event!
